The National Gallery's new Roden Centre for Creative Learning opened in February after four years of planning and renovation and immediately set a new global standard in cultural destinations for schools and families. The stunning artistic space is chock-full of creative genius - including the newest addition to the 'KeeperVerse', The Keeper of Paintings: Canvas Quest!
The Keeper of Paintings' mischievous cat, Claws Monet, gets his own starring role in this hide-and-seek adventure for mobile and tablet set across the new Centre, transforming into all manner of weird and wonderful shapes and hiding in the Gallery's masterpieces, for players to find.
As with all of the Keeper games, Canvas Quest was co-created with groups of children in the 7-11 year old age group, both on-site in the Roden Centre for Creative Learning and remotely, at various stages of development.
The learning experience is powered by WebAR platform 8th Wall, allowing players to meet the Keeper and his cat Claws, but also high quality digital versions of masterpieces from the national collection, all in magical augmented reality, as they explore all the amazing spaces in the Centre.
The 1UP Studios team has been privileged to see the Roden Centre for Creative Learning at various stages of its renovation as we have collaborated with the Gallery and the brilliant architects at Lawson Ward Studio to plan this new Keeper learning adventure, but to see it in all its spectacular glory, ready to welcome the first of the tens of thousands of school children and families, was very special.
